More Purity Give Me

Elder Neal A. Maxwell wrote the talk, “Repent of our selfishness”, and in it he talks about the little things we do each day that contribute to our spiritual unhappiness. I studied that talk for a sacrament meeting talk on Repentance that Robin and I were asked to give. I found it very enlightening and useful to myself

Little Folk

Kim, my friend, neighbor, and the President of the Young Women in our ward confided in me her struggle to have children. Having had three stillborns, the last of which was a twin boy to her surviving daughter, and having had trouble getting pregnant since, she and her husband decided to start a fast. Sunday morning he daughter asked her why she wasn’t eating, and she explained, ‘because mommy and daddy are having a fast so that we can have more babies.’ Her little 3 year old daughter, Lyndey, said, ‘well I’m going to fast too.’ and she did. All day long Kim was astonished that Lyndey never ate or asked for food. It was so touching to her she couldn’t help but feel extremely grateful for the children she did have.

Young Women in Excellence

Filed under: My Thoughts — Emily @ 5:34 am

Young women New Beginnings is coming up in February. The YW presidency got together and decided what to do for the only two girls that actively come. The President expressed her desire for making a slide show of all the girls last year, which have moved since, and put it along to a song. We decided not to use the pictures of last years girls, but decided to instead do something more recent. I offered to draw each of the girls and the President had me listen to a song she loved and wanted to use. She gave me the assignment to put it all together. I have worked hard on finding the pictures that we could best use for the words of the song, and when I was stuck on what to use I stumbled upon pictures that amazed me. I truly was directed. And all of us are so excited for the event that we’ve been re- energized and active at getting all of the inactive girls there. The music didn’t record very well, but the pictures will hopefully make the point. Take a look at the slide show.
